Elmer Blackbird died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. Elmer Blackbird was born Feb. 16, 1921, the son of Charles Blackbird and Suzette LaFlesche. He was the great-grandson of Chief Joseph LaFlesche, one of the last principal chiefs of the Omaha Tribe….

Hollis Dorian Stabler, a member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska who fought in World War II, died on Monday, Veterans Day. He was 89. He fought in a number of battles in WWII and earned the Purple Heart, the French Freedom Medal, Bronze Star, American Medal, the Combat Infantry Medal and other awards….
